INTRO
I am Adhemas Batista, a self-taught Designer/Creative Director & Digital Artist, Brazilian-born living in Los Angeles since 2006 with my wife and four children. I’ve spent over two decades creating vibrant and colorful concepts with imaginative appeal aligned with strategic design solutions, aiming on every piece of design to make colorful, living art that shines through the thickest corporate quagmire, backed by a variety of illustration, typography and photography.

BIO
I started my career at age fifteen as a web designer, developing throughout the years a distinctive visual style that has earned in frequent press coverage and recognition in the highest ranks of the industry, including a Grand Prix for Good in 2016 for the short animation “Malak and the Boat” to raise awareness around the Syrian refugee crisis.
In my path, I’ve led and built design teams, co-founded a digital agency in Brazil and owned a design studio in LA. Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to work with most Fortune 500 brands, give lectures and workshops around the world and be featured at art galleries. Today I hold the EVP, Head of Design position at Deutsch Los Angeles leading a team of 20+ designers.

HIGHLIGHTS
Over the years I have had the pleasure to work with great talented people and the opportunity to share a few industry winning awards with them, you can check the full list bellow, but I’d like to highlight some of the prizes, such as 9 lions at the Cannes Lions Festival including a Grand Prix for Good in 2016 for the short animation Malak and the Boat, as well as three golden lions, two silver and three bronzes for various campaigns.
Other awards include a Brazilian Young Creative Award at Cannes Lions Festival 2003, three Golden Statues at the London International Festival, 1 EMMY Awards Nomination, 1x Golden Statue at Clio Awards, 3x D&DA Pencils and 4x One Show Pencils. I’ve also displayed my work at Miami Art Basel in 2017 with the Alternate Your Reality Group Show and given lectures around the globe.

Previously, I was honored to be the Brazilian artist to be part of the Coca-Cola Remix project in 2007. The artwork for Coca-Cola was included in the Computer Arts UK Design of Decade edition (2000-2009) as a highlight of that decade in graphic design. I am also honored to be the only artist in the world whose designs were featured as desktop themes for both the Windows 7 and 8 versions subsequently as part of the default product offering.
